At IntMarble, we believe every piece of stone tells a story. Whether you have chosen our signature Calacatta Amber or the timeless Carrara Herringbone, natural marble requires a specific installation approach to ensure its beauty lasts a lifetime.

1. Preparation: The "Dry-Lay" Rule

Because our stone is hand-selected from European quarries, no two tiles are identical. Before applying any adhesive, you must unpack your entire order and "dry-lay" the tiles on the floor.

• The Benefit: This allows you to blend natural veining and shade variations, creating a cohesive flow across the room.
• Waste Factor: We always recommend a 10-15% wastage allowance for cuts and selection.

2. Substrate & The "Bounce" Test

Marble is 100% natural and rigid; any movement in the floor will transfer to the stone. If you are tiling onto timber, ensure there is no "bounce."

For walls, we strongly recommend using cement-based backer boards rather than standard plasterboard to support the weight of our Premium Marble Tiles.

3. Use White S2 Adhesive Only

Many marbles are slightly translucent. Using standard grey adhesive can darken the stone and "kill" its natural light refraction. Always use a high-quality White S2 Flexible Adhesive to maintain the bright, crisp look of stones like our Alpina White.

4. Sealing for Life

To prevent etching from wine, oils, or coffee, your marble must be sealed. We recommend a two-stage process:

1. Pre-Grout: Apply an impregnating sealer before grouting to prevent pigment staining.
2. Post-Grout: Apply a final coat once the grout is dry to create a permanent moisture barrier.
