Expert Project Preservation
At IntMarble, we bridge the gap between architectural vision and material reality. By understanding the geological physics of your selection—whether it be a vein-cut Marble or an earthy Travertine—you ensure that your natural stone remains a timeless asset to your property.
01 Substrate Preparation
Natural stone possesses zero tensile flexibility. Any movement in your subfloor (deflection) will result in structural failure. All substrates must be flat, dry, and rigid. For timber floors, we mandate over-boarding to BS 5385 standards using cement-backer boards.
02 Adhesive Selection
Standard grey adhesives leach into porous stone, causing "Shadowing" or permanent staining. We specify White C2TE S2 Flexible Adhesive and the "Back-Buttering" method to ensure a 100% void-free bond under every slab.
03 Preservation & Sealing
To prevent grout pigments from staining the pores (Grout Framing), apply an Impregnating Sealer after fixing but before grouting. This creates an invisible barrier that allows the stone to breathe while repelling contaminants.
04 Underfloor Heating
Marble is the world's finest thermal radiator. When installing over UFH, a decoupling membrane is essential to absorb thermal expansion. Never activate the heating for 28 days post-install to allow the adhesive to cure naturally.
