Terms & Technical Policies

Official purchasing parameters, heavy freight logistics, and technical installation guidelines for natural stone products dispatched from our Kilkeel depot in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland Law Tariff-Free UK & Ireland Delivery 30% Restocking Fee Applies
1

Contract & Order Acceptance

Every order placed on intmarble.com undergoes thorough verification at our Kilkeel facility to confirm batch consistency and freight network route availability. While payments are processed securely at checkout, a binding contract of sale is only finalized when goods are dispatched from our warehouse.

If an order cannot be completed due to quarry batch exhaustion or severe carrier access restrictions, International Marble reserves the right to cancel and fully refund the order prior to dispatch.

2

Pricing, VAT & Regional Trade (UK & Ireland)

Dispatching directly from Northern Ireland allows us to provide tariff-free delivery across both Great Britain and all 32 counties of Ireland.

  • Retail Orders (B2C): Public prices on intmarble.com are fully inclusive of VAT.
  • Trade Quotations (B2B): Custom architectural quotes issued by our sales desk display net rates with VAT itemized separately. Written quotes remain valid for 30 days.
  • Freight Tariffs: Specialized heavy freight charges are calculated live at checkout based on total pallet weight and delivery postcode.
3

Heavy Freight & Kerbside Offloading

Natural stone is heavy cargo (single pallets average 800kg to 1,000kg). Deliveries are completed using 18-tonne Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs) equipped with tail-lifts and manual pallet trucks.

  • Kerbside Offloading Only: Pallets are lowered to the nearest flat, hardstanding ground (tarmac or concrete kerb). Drivers cannot roll pump-trucks over gravel, grass, steep inclines, or steps. Drivers are not insured to carry tiles into properties.
  • Failed Delivery Charges: An adult must be present to inspect and sign for the shipment. If a delivery run fails due to customer absence or unnotified narrow road blockages, a carrier redelivery fee of £49.00 per pallet applies.
4

Natural Stone Characteristics

All marble, limestone, and travertine tiles supplied by International Marble are 100% natural geological materials quarried from the earth. Natural tone variations, mineral veining, fossils, and microscopic surface pits are authentic characteristics of real stone, not manufacturing defects.

Mandatory "Dry-Lay" Protocol Before Installation Your tiler must unpack tiles from multiple crates and dry-lay them across the floor to blend natural shading before applying adhesive. Physical fixing or cutting of stone constitutes structural acceptance—claims for shade or veining variations cannot be accepted post-installation.
5

Wastage Allowances & Ordering Calculations

Natural stone requires precise cutting around edges, walls, and pipework. You must order an allowance above your exact net room measurements:

  • Standard Straight Layouts: Add a minimum of 10% extra to cover cuts, corner fitting, and minor edge chips.
  • Complex Patterns (Herringbone / Opus): Add 15% extra to account for diagonal cuts and geometric alignment waste.
6

Technical Fitting & Underfloor Heating (UFH)

Natural stone must be installed by a professional tiler following British Standards (BS 5385) and TTA guidelines.

  • Subfloor Decoupling: Install an anti-fracture decoupling membrane (e.g. Ditra matting) over timber or screed subfloors before tiling.
  • Underfloor Heating (UFH): Stone conducts heat efficiently. Commission UFH systems slowly (increasing by 1°C daily) after adhesive and grout have fully cured to prevent thermal shock cracking.
  • White Flexible Adhesive Only: Light marble (Carrara, Calacatta) must be fixed using white flexible C2 S1/S2 adhesive. Grey adhesive bleeds through porous stone and creates permanent dark staining.
7

Sealing & Lifelong Maintenance

Because genuine stone is porous, it requires protective sealing against water and stain absorption.

  • Two-Stage Sealing: Apply an impregnating sealer (e.g., Lithofin MN Stain-Stop) before grouting to prevent pigment staining, and apply a final coat after grouting.
  • pH-Neutral Cleaning: Never use bleach, acidic bathroom cleaners, or harsh chemicals. Clean exclusively with dedicated pH-neutral stone wash products.
8

Returns, Transit Damages & Restocking Fees

Transit Damages (24–48 Hours): Inspect cargo immediately upon tail-lift arrival. Note visible breakage on the driver’s delivery docket and email clear photos of damaged tiles and box labels to cs@intmarble.com within 24–48 hours for replacement processing.

Voluntary Customer Returns: You can return full, unopened crates in resalability condition within 30 days of delivery under these terms:

  • Customer Returns Transport: The buyer is responsible for booking and funding palletized return transport back to our Kilkeel depot.
  • 30% Restocking Fee: A 30% handling fee is deducted from returned stone value to cover forklift processing, un-crating, and stock recalibration.
  • Freight Recovery Clawback: Outbound delivery fees are non-refundable. Orders that qualified for Free Shipping will have a £99.00 freight recovery fee deducted per returned pallet.
Pre-Return Photography Protocol Photograph your securely strapped pallet before handing it to your courier. If tiles arrive damaged at our depot, photos are required to file a compensation claim against your carrier.
